fuseproject

The Studio

Designed, managed, and led both the studio and its clients through the process of fostering change. Three years in, I helped launch the first satellite studio for Yves Behar’s fuseproject. As the studio + account lead, my focus was to bring communication, coordination, and direction to fuseproject’s creative endeavors for clients like PUMA, GE, The NY Department of Health, Nivea, and a series of startups, while nurturing the office talent and maintaining a cultural connection between the two studios.

My Role

Designed, managed, and led both the studio and it’s clients through the process of fostering change. Supporting the evolution of brands, the team and I worked to develop positioning strategies implemented in industrial design, packaging, graphics, naming, UI and environmental design for clients like MasterCard, Sony, Microsoft, and GE.

EYEGLASSES for AUGEN OPTICS

Project : Worked with the organization “See Better to Learn Better” to design, execute, and promote fun, durable frames for free distribution to children in need, ensuring that they have the tools they need to learn.

My Role : Managed the client through the process of learning how to manufacture injection-molded eye-wear, directed the internal design process from concept through tooling, and steered the launch strategy.

REFRESH for COCA-COLA

Project : Totally recyclable recycling containers made from post-consumer plastics. We thought the idea of using old coke bottles to make containers for collecting bottles at public events was a great idea. Just one of over a dozen projects I worked on with Coke while at fuseproject and SuperHappyBunny.

My Role : Different projects required different skills. Creative lead on some, Client lead on all of them.

WATTSTATION for GE

Project : Working directly for the CMO, Beth Comstock, we helped GE navigate the ‘smart grid’ from strategy to product, implementation and beyond. One of the collaborations between GE Ecomagination and fuseproject led to the GE WattStation, an electric vehicle charging station designed for public and private spaces. Our vision for the WattStation was an electric car-charger design that is as durable as street furniture, as visible as a light beacon, and as beautiful as street greenery.

My Role : Managed the client relationship and the internal project workflow assuring the design integrity and abundant communication. I also worked closely with GE’s engineering teams to translate the design intent into a production ready product.

WEBBOOK for LITL

Project : Created A simpler, friendlier version of laptop computing for the home, making cloud computing more accessible than ever. We developed the webbook, its operating system, and the vision and voice of the company from inception through market release,.

My Role : I Worked closely with the founder to navigate the project and business needs. Acted as the lead contact and instigator in all phases of the program; from scoping the project, honing the brand strategy, negotiating with the engineering contractors, and briefing the software developers.

CLEVER LITTLE BAG for PUMA

Project : Enlisted to investigate sustainability opportunities in the packaging of Puma’s shoes they sell each year. Working directly with Tony Bertone and a select team of material specialists, and production + supply chain engineers, we produced and promoted a smart, simple, and innovative new ‘box’ to drastically reduce material usage and deliver a versatile solution for both Puma stores and consumers.

My Role : Drove the project process and client relationship during the design phase, and was the technical project lead for the push into manufacturing.

NYC CONDOM + DISPENSER for NYC DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH

Project : The New York City Department of Health approached fuseproject to develop a strong graphic identity and an iconic and durable metal dispenser for distributing free condoms in public spaces across the city.

My Role : I was brought into the project to figure out what manufacturing processes could achieve the desired design, identify potential vendors, and manages the entire manufacturing, assembly, and installation of the 300+ units at locations within Manhattan.

BRAND + PACKAGING REFOCUS for NIVEA

Project : Myself and a crack team of product and graphic designers spent over a year refocusing Nivea with a new integrated branding, structure, and graphic language. We then executed the design on literally hundreds of products from inception through production. Fuseproject took on a range of powerful roles to assure adoption, design integrity, and the success of the REFOCUS.

My Role : Myself, acting as the design-wise and business-savvy project manager drove the project from start to finish; building the project proposal, helping direct the strategy and design process, running the client presentations, working with engineering on the technical, and most importantly, assuring an excellent client experience.

REACH TOOTHBRUSH for JOHNSON&JOHNSON

Project : Aided Chris Hacker in rebooting the REACH brand as part of a deeper process of building the Global Strategy and Design Office.

My Role : Drove the project process and client relationship during the design phase, and was the technical project lead for the push into manufacturing.
